Brief description:

Pearly penile papules are not contagious, they are not a virus such as herpes, and they are a totally normal condition of a man's penis. It is not a chronic disease or immune system problem and it occurs when the human body sends faulty signals to the skin and it might be caused by sweat glands most specialists think.

Treatment

While it is generally recommended to leave the bumps alone, they can be removed, if so desired, for cosmetic reasons. We have to remember that the removal of PPP is a purely cosmetic procedure. With the right removal method, one to two treatment usually is needed to remove all PPP in the majority of cases.

Known ways for pearly penile papules treatment:

CO2 Carbon Dioxide Laser, other known method is hyfrecation, cauterization, electro-surgery, curettage, it can also be treated with Erbium: YAG Laser.

Treatment with the CO2 Laser:

There are several doctors around the United States advertising their laser services for thousands of dollars at fortune five hundred cosmetic surgery clinics and they will give you all kinds of promises for example "don't worry it will look like the babies butt!". Unfortunately I learned it on the hard way that if something sounds too good to be true, there is always some sort of catch to the deal. Lots of man underwent their Laser procedures (and they still do) and most of them for some reasons (maybe embarrassment) they are just quiet about the results.

There are other doctors out there using different methods to remove penile bumps (other than laser) and what I've learned from those specialists is that the hand piece of a laser machine doesn't work very precisely and it is hard to do a fine art work with it. It's not specially designed to do a fine art job like removing PPP. Therefore it is very difficult to perform a controlled procedure with it, in fact some say that it may cause scarring and leave certain scar patterns behind or discoloration.

Those docs say that there are other less expensive old fashion equipments that can be used to perform the procedure more safely and with less chances of scarring. I personally don't know what brand laser machines those clinics use, there are a gazillion of laser brand names out there and there are several types of laser beams as well. What we know for sure is that those laser machines are not specifically invented to procedures to treat PPP. I would be definitely cautious undergoing a Laser treatment, I would definitely ask several laser treated patients about the outcome of the surgery, and talk to them personally and see the results with your own eyes if it's possible. For some reason I have doubts in those before and after pictures which are displayed on the doctors website. I would make sure that the specialist will assure me that no scars will be left behind after the laser operation. Make sure they will include a second or even third treatment for free in case you bumps will come back, including your travel cost to the cosmetic surgery center.
